The Character of His Glory

Blog In Audio:

Greetings,

I had a great week which concluded with a worship night at Alife on Friday and a great service yesterday. God’s presence was evident in my time in the woods and His presence was wonderful in the corporate gatherings in the weekend. God is very accessible, but we must seek Him in a way that is not limited to how we have known Him in the past.

The glory of God is seen in the evidence of His presence in our lives. His presence reveals His power, but it also reveals His character. An intimate relationship with God will empower and inspire the fruit of His person in our own identity that influences our testimony in our world. The fruit of God’s presence is evidenced with love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. His presence in our lives will produce the evidence these.

Jesus was the express image of His Father’s glory, and the fruit of the Spirit was no doubt a surrounding influence from His life to all who knew Him. These same things should be an obvious witness to those who know us in our world.

When we live in the Spirit, we will also walk in the Spirit. We will live our lives as physical people, but the testimony of our lives will be credited to the work of God’s Spirit within us.

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

To be led by the Spirit, we must turn to the Lord in our hearts. Intimacy with the Lord is the secret to knowing His glory in our lives.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

God said that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord will cover the earth, as the waters cover the sea (Num. 14:20; Ps. 72:19; Isa. 11:9; Hab. 2:14). Why do the waters cover the sea? The decision of first Adam resulted in the consequence of a flood and the earth was changed.

2 Peter 3:5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water—Ps. 104:6-8.

The condition of the earth was the result of first Adam’s decision to choose the knowledge of good and evil over intimacy and trust with God who is eternal life. To seek the knowledge of good and evil is to seek independence from God rather than dependance upon Him. To embrace an administration of information is to embrace a glory of man and a forsaking of the glory of God. This was the case at the fall of Adam.

God promises that the evidence of Last Adam, eternal Adam—Jesus, will fill the whole earth. In your life, the evidence of first Adam is going to be overtaken by the evidence of eternal Adam. The old man is being overpowered by the new man. He who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it. There is no end to the increase of His change in our lives when we willingly and willfully embrace a daily relationship with Him. It is like leaven in three measures of meal. It fills the whole loaf. It is like a little mustard seed that is very small, but it grows to become like a tree. For each of us, Christ within us is the hope of glory!  Jesus is our salvation in and to our world.

Blessings,

Ted J. Hanson
