Blog In Audio:
Greetings,
I hope you had a great week and weekend. We celebrated Father’s Day this weekend here in Bellingham. I was blessed to minister at our home church about God as our Father. It was a good day and a great time with family for lunch, hang out time with our daughter and kids, and a call from my son in California. I am a blessed father because of God our Father.
Our view of God will influence our prophetic voice to others. Prophecy is simply God speaks, life happens. As children of God, we are to be a testimony of Him to our world. We are to be expressions of life to our world. When we encounter others, what do they see? What do they hear? What do people experience when we walk into the room, when we enter the area, the space of someone else? What do they experience? Our view of God will influence our prophetic voice to others.
If we believe that God is an angry God, we will be a prophetic voice of anger to our world. Many people perceive that God is a God of anger, and they become a repelling voice to the world, not an invitation to a loving Father.
If we believe that God is an informational teacher, we will become a prophetic voice of information to our world. Maybe you’ve met those people who are informational teachers, and every time you see them, every time you hear them, every time they walk into the room, they’re full of information and teaching. They’re not necessarily fun to be around. They’re just constantly teaching.
If we believe that God’s ultimate identity is one of being the sovereign judge, we will become a prophetic voice of judgment to our world. People will see us as judgmental of them. They’ll hear us as one who judges others. They’ll experience judgment when we walk into the room.
Our view of God will determine what we can become, and it will determine what our world can become. Whatever we see God to be, shapes our lives and empowers our voice to our world. Whatever we see God to be is what we will become to others. What defines who God is?
Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
I don’t believe that it is sovereignty that makes God who He is. There is something that is more powerful than His ability to be sovereign. It is His identity as Father. He gives life, breath, and all things to all people. This is an action of intimacy and endearment, not mere strength. I don’t believe that God wants to be God. He is God, but He wants us to know Him as Father. It is through a Father/son, Father/daughter relationship that we can become life-giving expressions of Him to our world. Our perception of God influences our ability to hear Him. Sons and daughters of God will hear Him more readily and clearly than mere subjects and slaves.
Jesus taught that we are to pray to our Father as the one who is holy. He gives us our daily bread. Our desire is to be for His kingdom to come and His will to be done in our lives. The Father is seen in the evidence of His giving nature. He gives life, breath, and all things.
Acts 17:24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.
God is our Father and He is the only one who can give us our identity, testimony, and purpose in life. We find our life in Him and He gives us an identity that is life-giving. He gives us breath and we become life-giving expressions of Him to our world. He gives us all things when we partner with Him in our purpose in life.
Acts 17:28 …for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ 29 Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.
God wants us to know Him as our Father. To the tree He is the Creator, but to us He is our Father who can create. We know Him for His creative ways of loving us and empowering us to become more and more like Him—givers of life to our world.
Blessings,
Ted J. Hanson
