A Restoring Creator

Blog In Audio:

Greetings,

Today I am back in Bellingham. It was great being in California with family and now I am blessed to be with my family here. I am loved and I know the riches of the fruit of family. Our time together as a church family yesterday was filled with God’s presence and a deep sense of community.

Whatever causes a condition that destroys what was meant to be built, desolates what should be filled, or ruins what was meant to be seen can be made new by God’s Holy Spirit of life though the expression of His word. His presence in our lives empowers us to be expressors of His life to our world. God is the word, and we are His voice! We are called to be expressions of Him in who we are in our world. When we become expressions of Him, life happens!

When the prophet Jeremiah was appealing to God’s people to return to God, he saw something in the spirit that alluded to a time before human history. His words were not intended to inspire us to pursue some theory regarding a pre-Adamic race. They were words to inspire God’s people to know that God is the Creator and only by returning to Him can we find the future that we were meant to walk in.

Jeremiah 4:22 “For My people are foolish, they have not known Me. They are silly children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.” 23 I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; and the heavens, they had no light. 24 I beheld the mountains, and indeed they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth. 25 I beheld, and indeed there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens had fled. 26 I beheld, and indeed the fruitful land was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of the LORD, by His fierce anger.”

Whatever this creation was that Jeremiah saw, it appears that the loss of form, the depletion of life, and the condition of darkness was the consequence of silly children not seeking to know God. Something that was formerly stable was shaken. There was a fleeing from God and what was fruitful became desolate. In their departure from God they could not stand in the presence of the Lord and thus they suffered the anger of the Lord instead of His blessing. The condition appears to be a condition that needed a new beginning. The condition was that which we see at the first of God’s words to man, but that condition was all that God needed to give a beginning. God gives life, breath, and all things. He gives form to what needs form, He gives fullness to what was is void, and He gives light to what becomes dark.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

God rebuilds things when they are destroyed. He raises up things when they become desolate. God repairs things that have been ruined. God doesn’t merely want to restore our lives; He wants to empower us to be a testimony of restoration to and for our world. This is the nature of our Father. God is a redeeming God. He is a reconciler, a restorer, a rewarder, and a replenisher to a world in need. When we experience God’s presence in our today, we find that our world is created new in some way.

Everyday we need to invite God’s presence. Everyday we must expect to see God in our world. When we turn to Him, we find His light. Whatever situation you face today is ready for God’s presence to do a miracle. We are not silly children turning away from God. We are those who seek Him in our world every day. By this we can know new things, new experiences, and new expressions of His life in our world for a greater glory that we have known before.

The new song of God brings new pathways of life. That life is not just for us, it is for us to reveal God’s goodness to our world. It is so that we can partner with God in seeing what has been destroyed rebuilt, to see what was made desolate raised up again, and to see what was ruined repaired in a new and greater way.

Blessings,

Ted J. Hanson
