Greetings,
Today I am in Redding, California. Bonnie and I have had a wonderful week with our family here. We will be heading back to Bellingham tomorrow. Family is great, but knowing God as family is even better. God’s gift of life, expression of life, and His purpose of life in and through us is meant to bring life to our world.
Christianity is not meant to be some form of religion. Christianity is simply a label placed upon those who embrace a relationship with Christ in their hearts. This is the testimony of sons and daughters of God. We are no longer a body of our own identity, testimony, and purpose. We are members of the body of Christ. This is to be a dwelling place of God by His Holy Spirit. Christ in us is the hope of glory. We are joined to God, and we know His powerful love working in and through our lives. We sing a New Song of life in every season of our lives.
Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God gives us life and liberty so that we become givers of life to our world. He doesn’t just love us to set us free. He sets us free to empower us to be givers of life to our world. This is not merely a testimony of being set free, it is a testimony of being made free as sons and daughters of God to be givers of life as He is a giver of life in all things. The Spirit of Lord is in and upon us so that we can be a part of a multigenerational family of life. It is by the fruit of our lives that God is glorified.
Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
God gives us life and liberty as sons and daughters of God so that we can bring life and liberty to our world. We can expect to face things that need the identity of life, the testimony of life, and the purpose of life. Sons and daughters of God grow in their identity in Christ, their testimony in Christ, and their purpose in Christ. What the enemy intends for evil God turns toward His purpose.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
God doesn’t just work things for our good according to our own plans and vision for life. When we receive His love and allow Him to empower us to love Him, He takes what any enemy intended for evil, and He turns it for good according to His purpose. Some things were destroyed – they need to be rebuilt. Some things have been made desolate – they need to be raised up. Some things have been ruined – they need to be repaired. God doesn’t merely want to restore our lives; He wants to empower us to be a testimony of restoration to and for our world.
Isaiah 61:4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.
The nature of God our Father is to give life, breath, and all thigs. His Spirit hovers over places that are formless, void, and dark. His Spirit is always ready and willing to bring forth a testimony of God’s love and life. Who are we? As sons and daughters of God we can expect to partner with Holy Spirit to rebuild what has been destroyed, raise up what has been made desolate, and repair what has been ruined.
Blessings,
Ted J. Hanson
